The sculptures reflect upon the transience of presence. The transformative and destabilizing effect of external forces and internal erosion is the subject of this exhibition. The maquettes for monumental sculptures allude to transition through space and time, they have a strong physical presence while threatening to dissolve at any moment. As the lone figure advances it absorbs patches of the environment as well as reflecting surfaces and textures, an urban chameleon. I find inspiration in built up surfaces in various places, like weathered hoardings with layers of posters or an artist’s palette smeared with layers of paint. I am predisposed to the unspectacular and this can be seen in my choice of making work using scrap and used materials. "Survey" records the figure and its movement through the environment. Dissected and unstable the protagonist pauses to collect himself and plan his next move. "Acclimatised" - The walker moves through, absorbing.
